Storage
Customs Daily stores your watchlist choices, reading feedback, and reminder settings on your device only. They are never sent to its server. The backend keeps no account, no profile, and no per-reader activity — it serves the same daily briefing to everyone.
Permissions
Network access fetches the daily briefing and the archive. Notification access delivers the optional daily reminder. In-app purchase access manages premium briefing access.
Sharing
Reader data is not sold and not shared. There is no analytics SDK and no advertising identifier. Payment processing and subscription status are handled by Apple. Source material remains the public CBP CSMS message.
Third Parties We Share Data With
U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CSMS, delivered through GovDelivery) — The source of every message in the app. Customs Daily's backend reads CBP's public CSMS messages, as delivered through GovDelivery's public feed, on a schedule; the app itself never contacts CBP or GovDelivery. No reader data of any kind is sent to either — the requests ask only for public messages. MiniMax (Shanghai MiniMax, People's Republic of China) — The cloud AI provider that rewrites public CSMS messages into plain language and translates them into Simplified Chinese. It receives only the text of public CSMS messages — titles, message numbers, tariff and quota codes, HTS numbers and dates. No reader data, no account identifier, and no device identifier is ever sent. This runs on the server on a daily schedule, never in response to anything a reader does.
